ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – One person is dead following a shooting early Saturday morning near East 40th Avenue and Fairbanks Street just blocks east of Cuddy Park.
According to a APD press release, officers responded to shots fired around 1:06 a.m. Upon arrival, one adult was found with a upper-body gun shot wound and was ultimately declared deceased at the scene following life saving measures from Anchorage Fire Department medics. A second adult was found at the scene with a gunshot injury to their lower body. That individual was transferred to a hospital with injuries not believed to be lifethreatening.
“This is a very active and ongoing investigation,” said an email from the APD Communications department. “As stated in the release this morning the drone is one of the tools used by the crime scene team to process the site.”
