Akron fire crews were called to a house on Vernon Odom Boulevard just before 6 p.m. and reported smoke and fire coming from the house’s top floor.
CLEVELAND — A person died and three people, including two firefighters, were taken to hospitals after a house caught fire in Akron Saturday evening, officials said.
Akron fire crews were called to a house on Vernon Odom Boulevard just before 6 p.m. and reported smoke and fire coming from the house’s top floor, according to a press release.
Firefighters were told a person was in the attic. Crews removed the person and transported them to an Akron hospital, where the person was later pronounced dead. The fire department is not identifying the deceased person at this time pending notification of family members.
